This course is a great progression from our DIY / Beginners workshop

This 3 Day Carpentry Course will give you the knowledge, confidence & skills to start tackling your own carpentry projects.  This course has been carefully designed to equip you with the skills and techniques to get started with confidence.

During this course you will also learn a small decking project from start to finish teaching you how to notch and fix timbers. These skills can be transferred to many projects around the house such as:

  • Work Bench
  • Day Bed
  • decking projects and Repairs
  • Storage Seating
  • Timber screening
  • Side tables and so much more

The course is capped to 6 students for maximum handson experience.

3 Day Carpentry Course outline

  • Correct and Safe Techniques using Power Tools including Drop Saw , Circular Saw, Nail Gun , Planer, Router , Multi Tool, Sander)
  • Level 2 Different types of timbers
  • Foundations
  • How to Construct a Low Height Deck
  • Main Timber Members On Timber Stud Wall
  • Different fixing & Cutting Tehniques

Description

All workshops are run by Builder / Carpenter trainer Penny Petridis and are occasionally accompanied by trade specialists to offer additional advice and opinions.

All Training is hands on. We believe there is no better way of learning than to get amongst it and have a go yourself in a safe environment.

This workshop will run over the following Days:

Starting  Friday 20th and Saturday 21st  9am – 3pm and Sunday 22nd February 9am – 2pm

You’ll learn about

  • Different types of carpentry tools; hand tools and power tools including power drill, impact driver and drop saw
  • Learn how to draw, plan and provide a cutting list for our first decking project
  • Different types of timbers
  • Different joints and fixings
  • Foundations
  • Framing members – bearers, joists, decking boards and flooring

Get Hands On

  • The different types and how to choose the right timbers
  • Measuring and cutting your own post rebates
  • Construct a deck from scratch with our team including posts, bearers, joists and decking boards.

After this workshop you will be able to

  • Have the confidence to start constructing your own carpentry projects
  • Appreciate and understand timbers and materials
  • Take the confidence learned in this course to pursue further training

PLEASE NOTE
: The ONE DAY DIY Beginners Workshop is a pre-requisite for this 3 DAY COURSE. It is an intense 3 days and the basics of using hand tools, countersinking tools, cordless drill and impact driver is a must.

Parking on Friday is a little tricky so please allow some additional time. Saturday and Sunday plenty of parking.

We Offer Coffee/Tea and snacks but please bring your own lunch.

Please wear comfortable clothing and safe shoes.

All Tools and Materials will be provided for all workshops unless of course you would like to bring yours.

Training is run from our Base Workshop in Marrickville.

We Offer Coffee/Tea and snacks but please bring your own lunch.

Even though most of our students are predominately females we are not exclusive to any gender. We do not discriminate Gender, Race or Sexuality and actually encourage all to join.  . Everyone is welcome and it is our upmost priority that we provide a safe space for everyone.

Transport
There is plenty of off street parking or parking in the back carpark Tempe and Marrickville Train Stations are both within a 10 minute walk.

Refund and Cancellation Policy At Get Handy Workshops, we’re passionate about providing an engaging, hands-on experience in a small, dedicated group setting. Due to the limited number of spots available in our workshops, we operate with a no-refund policy to ensure we can continue offering these unique sessions. 

No Refunds: All bookings are final, and we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations. This helps us keep our small group sizes and plan resources effectively for everyone involved.

Cancellations Within 7 days of Workshop: Cancellations made less than 7 days before the workshop cannot be rescheduled. We recommend transferring your booking to a friend or family member if you’re unable to attend.

Transfers and Rescheduling. Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule, please let us know at least 7 days before the workshop. Transfers to a future workshop date will incur a $100 rescheduling fee. This allows us to prepare for all attendees fairly and to maintain our workshop quality. Exceptional Circumstances If you experience an emergency or unavoidable conflict, please contact us directly. While refunds aren’t possible, we’ll do our best to offer support within the constraints of our policy.
