Have you got your DIY basics skills covered and now keen to take your renovations skills to the next level.

Learn from Qualified Tradies. Build Your Confidence. Start Renovating.

Led by experienced, qualified tradies, this full-day, hands-on workshop is designed to teach you how to safely and confidently use the essential power tools needed for home renovation and building projects.

You’ll upskill your trade skills and work through real renovation-based tasks, gaining practical experience with cutting, fixing, shaping, and finishing timber — all under expert guidance.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Safe and correct use of core power tools
  • Techniques for cutting, shaping, fixing, and finishing
  • Renovation skills you can apply at home
  • Confidence to take on your own projects

Tools You’ll Be Trained On (with Real-Life Scenarios):

  • Circular Saw + Speed Square
Learn how to make clean, straight cuts — ideal for trimming timber for feature walls, bench tops, floating shelves, or cutting down framing timber for outdoor projects.
  • Jigsaw
Master cutting curves and internal cut-outs — like removing a section of benchtop to install a sink or shaping timber for custom shelving or furniture.
  • Planer
Learn to fix swollen or misaligned doors by shaving down edges for a perfect fit — no more sticking doors or jammed frames.
  • Fixing Gun (Nail Gun)
Get confident with brad nailers to attach skirtings, install wall panelling, build timber trims, or finish small cabinetry work with a professional look.
  • Framing Gun
You won’t be building frames in this workshop — but you’ll get a go at using this powerful tool safely and confidently, so it’s no longer something to fear.
  • Router
Practice routing clean, rounded edges on doors, tables, and benches — or cut decorative grooves and joinery for furniture projects.
  • Multitool
Handle awkward cuts with ease — like cutting into plasterboard for a power point, trimming door jambs to fit new flooring, or removing damaged sections of timber.
  • Sander
Use power sanders to prep surfaces for painting or staining — perfect for refinishing a tabletop, smoothing out decking timber, or finishing your timber board.
PLEASE NOTE: PREREQUISITE – YOU MUST COMPLETE THE BEGINNERS WORKSHOP BEFORE ATTENDING POWER UP.
If you already have prior experience, please contact our office before booking.

Who This Workshop Is For

  • This is an intermediate-level workshop.
  • To get the most out of Power Up, we ask that participants either:
    • Have completed our One-Day Beginners DIY Workshop,
    • OR Already feel confident using basic hand tools and a power drill.
  • You don’t need to be a pro, but this workshop is not for complete beginners.
  • We’ll be working with up to 10 different power tools and jumping straight into hands-on renovation-style activities — so a bit of prior experience goes a long way.

If you’re brand new to tools and want to build a strong foundation, check out our One-Day Beginners Workshop first — it’s the perfect starting point.

Essential Bonus Tools:

  • Spade Bit
Learn how to drill large holes through timber — ideal for running cables, plumbing, bolt fixings, or installing hardware in doors and frames. A must-have skill for cabinetry, decking, and general renovation work.
  • Hole Saw
Get hands-on with hole saws for neat circular cuts — perfect for sink holes, downlights, or pipe access through benches and panels.

Bonus Take-Home Project:

  • A beautiful, confidence-boosting reminder of what you can build.
  • All tools, materials, and safety gear provided. No experience needed.
  • Just bring your energy — and get ready to build.
